  • São Paulo, Brazil - Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine extracts, including rhodiola rosea extract, ginseng extract and astragalus extracts are recognized to have cognitive health benefits according botanical ingredients experts Chris Kilham, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council. Skyherb will be introducing its TCM extract line at Food Ingredient South America (FISA), to further expand its market share in South America and complement what is already world’s largest nutraceutical market dominated by superfruits with TCM ingredients.   • MUI Halal certification gained

  • Anji, China - After a 2-week thorough inspection, Skyherb Ingredients received MUIS’s Halal certificate. The market of Halal certified products is growing. Halal consumers including 1.4 billion Muslims worldwide and millions of non-Muslims eat halal products. Muslims need their food to be certified. Halal certification is overseen by a qualified independent third party consumer products and be able to demonstrate that the products meet standards for production preparation and ingredients of the halal way. Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), also known as Islamic Religious Council of Singapore is Singapore's top Islamic authority in charge of handling Muslim affairs, was established in 1968. MUI is granted rights to manage and regulate halal certification, is the world's most famous and most professional international halal certification (HALAL certification) organizations. Skyherb’s strict halal products system was certificated by MUI.
  • Pesticide tainted “organic” extract identified

  • Hangzhou - While expanding its organic line, Skyherb is monitoring the organic ingredients market. During a recent market study, pesticide residues such as organophosphorines, organochlorines, carbamate and pyrethroid were found in some “organic” products of few suppliers.Organic foods are produced using methods of organic farming. In general, organic foods are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. Synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers are also not allowed, although certain organically approved pesticides may be used under limited conditions. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has strict guidelines on the regulation of pesticides. The EPA regulates the amount of each pesticide by setting a tolerance the tolerance is the amount of pesticide residue allowed to be in or on a particular organic food. The tolerances set by the EPA are rigorous and are exceeded less than 1% of the time.
  • HPTLC Identification Method for Grape Seed Extract Developed

  • Anji, China - The signature components in grape seed extract that help identity possible spiked products: catechin, epicatechin and procyanidin B2 are easily identified in the HPLC chromatograms of grape seed and grape seed extract, while low leaks are observed in the HPLC analysis for peanut skin and peanut skin extract. Skyherb has used HPLC method for identifying grape seed extract skillfully. Recently, by cooperating with Alkemist, Skyherb established better HPTLC method for the ID test. High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) is the most advanced form of TLC and comprises the use of chromatographic layers of utmost separation efficiency and the employment of state-of-the-art instrumentation for all steps in the procedure.
